Are you eating the right staples?

Dr. Khadar Vali Diet

What if I say what we been eating for ages as our staple food is not good for our health. Chapatis, rice, and our complete food milk are not good for our health. Shocking right?  So, let me inform you about the millet man of India and a scientist Dr. Khadar Vali who is been researching all these things over the years, and his research studies show all our life what we thought to be our go-to and the stable meal is not healthy. In this article, we will talk about Dr. khadar vali Diet.

He talks about the fact that we hold common perceptions which promote whole grains and rice to be nutritious and healthy, he says, “It is nothing but a food conspiracy by the industries that want to sell these products with the healthy label. Many nutritionists even claim that chocolate and non-veg food cause most health issues, but that also is not entirely true. The problem lies in the staples, not the accompaniments.

For decades, we have been eating the wrong staples. It is high time people see that and replace them with the healthier and more eco-friendly alternative–millets.” During the question-answer session answering about Calcium deficiency he advised sesame seeds and sesame oil as its 100 gm seeds contain 1000 mg while a litre of milk has 1000mg of calcium. Also what we drink as milk thinking of it to be complete food and good for our bones is a myth.

The cow produces milk for their calves, not for us. To increase its production they are injected with oxytocin hormones, how is it healthy. It’s not a natural process.

So, what are the healthy alternatives according to Dr. Khadar Vali:

In one of his talks Dr. Khadar Vali’s prescription for a healthier world and to improve immunity in the Covid 19 Era, suggests not to eat sugar, rice, wheat and drink Milk.

Instead, he focuses mainly to eat the five positive grains (Siridhanya) which we used to eat 60 years ago. These include Kodo millets, Barnyard millets, Foxtail millets, Browntop millets, and Little millets.

He encourages people to switch to millets because millets are more nutritious as it takes six hours to break down and thus keeps you full without increasing the blood sugar level. He says, “Any food that takes a longer time to break down the glucose and fructose to be absorbed by the blood is truly healthy. While Ragi takes almost two hours to break down, positive grains or millets take more than six hours. As opposed to this, rice only takes 45 minutes to be absorbed by the blood, thus increasing the risk of diabetes.

He suggests people do Surya Namaskar, Eat Kodo & Foxtail millet; also take Giloy, Parijat, Artemisia, and Guava leaves.

Dr. Khadar also advises a change in lifestyle, increase trees to prevent environment, otherwise, our next generation won’t be able to see life on this earth in next 48 years.

To a diabetic, he asked to avoid sugar, rice, wheat, eggs, meat. For Anaemia, he advised 250 to 400 ml juice of Carrot, beetroot, and guava daily morning.

When asked how it can benefit the soil, he informs that millets can be grown even in dryland using only 20 cm of rainfall, thus solving the issue of drought which ails almost 60 percent of the available agricultural land in the country. He also adds that only 200 liters of water are required to grow one kg of millet, as opposed to almost 9,000 liters of water for growing one kg of rice or wheat.
