What image do you form when you feel money is everything, for it’s been the image of wall street bankers I have watching in Hollywood movies and something like Scrooge McDuck. In this article, we will discuss Money is everything in today’s situation?
So, let me clear it, that money is undoubtedly important but there is also a possibility that money could be your end goal as in I have enough money now and now I can quit working and the other one is money being a tool to achieve your end goal. If you’re only interested in using money as a tool that you can wield to optimize your happiness, then you’re not greedy. You’re considered savvy.
What Money Can Buy
“There are many things money can buy, but the most valuable of all is freedom. Freedom to do what you want and to work for whom you respect.” – J.L. Collins, The Simple Path to Wealth
Money can buy many things.
It can buy you the physical possessions which makes you feel happy and confident.
It can also buy experiences like dinner with friends, plane tickets, and hotel accommodations.
The most powerful thing money can buy, though, is freedom over your time. You can buy this freedom by using your money to accumulate assets.
What does it mean to accumulate assets?
So, considering the fact that you have 20000 rs and you are planning to buy some stylish shoes and that money is gone forever.
The second scenario could have been if you used that money in realestaes, stocks, bonds, websites and business you will make money simply for owing it.
So, basically, an asset is anything that tends to increase in value over time or pays you money simply for owning it and it works for you as an employee that works endlessly to earn money for you.
Once you acquire enough assets that are generating income, then you no longer need to report to a day job to earn money. That’s freedom.
What Money Cannot Buy
Money can buy freedom over your time, but there are still several things money can’t buy including:
Fitness: So, you can buy a trademill from the money you have but you have to run No matter how much money you have. You still have to do the push-ups yourself.
Diet: Even you got money and hire yourself a good dietician, it is you have to make changes in your eating pattern. As Brunello Cucinelli once said, “you cannot pay someone to be on a diet for you.”
Meaningful relationships: Money gives you free time, but you still have to choose to use some of that free time to build meaningful relationships with others. Also if you have money many people try to have relations with you, which is the real one is still needs to be figured by you.
Peace of mind: Money can eliminate financial anxiety and stress, but it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll have peace of mind in every other area of your life. You still have to put in work to be at peace with yourself about your body, your mind, your relationships, and your actions.
If you think you will realize money is like a genie that can grant your wishes in form of opportunities and how will you use it to improve your life is up to you. It won’t do the work for you, though.
Why Money is Everything
Money is a slip of paper. It’s a number on a screen, the value added to it makes it what is it, otherwise, it is nothing.
Used correctly, though, it is everything and it has the potential to change your life. It can give you the means to quit a job you hate and pursue a more flexible work situation. It can give you freedom over your time.
What you choose to do with this freedom, though, is up to you.
It’s entirely possible to have freedom over your time, yet find yourself unhealthy, unhappy, and lacking meaningful work, relationships, and peace of mind.
It’s up to you to prioritize your physical and mental health, to build meaningful relationships with others, and to craft a work situation that you enjoy. Nobody can do these things for you, no matter how much money you have.
You should aim to become money savvy purely because it will give you the opportunity to live your ideal life.
