Games Of The Mind

The Mind is beautiful. It is THE BEST machine ever created by any parameters. How it functions and all that it can do is amazing to study. If you want to understand more on those lines of Games Of The Mind, read some Dr. Joe Dispenza material. Fascinating it is.

I wanted to talk about another ability of mind – ADAPTABILITY.

It is a very helpful feature because this is what helps us in coping with the changes happening or not happening around us and get happy.

The Beautiful Mind

But this is also the feature which may stall our future. Like everything else in the world, the mind also faces Inertia. Whatever state it is in, it ‘adapts’ itself into it and convinces that it is an optimum stage. Only an intentional push will move it to think otherwise, an even larger one will be needed to keep it thinking. Organizations have been using this “Adaptability” feature for way too long. The following are a couple of examples.

Schools declare results just before the weekend or a long vacationReasoning: Whatever anger or frustration you will have regarding the result, you will have the time to cope with it and channel your emotions. You will be a calmer person when you return to classes.

Promotion Letters / Layoffs on FridayReasoning: Whatever questions you wanted to ask to the HR or your manager, you will get 2 days before you can reach them. During those days, your mind will answer many questions for you and give you reasons why it is still OK.

I have met many people who don’t like their jobs or the direction it is headed to. Yet, only a few of them do anything about it. Well, in their minds they are doing something about it because they are probably thinking about the next BIG idea (like e.g. Uber or Alibaba) or taking a certification that should possibly be done in 2 weeks and they are studying it for 4 months already. These are the strategies of the mind to give you a ‘Pat on the back’. Bravo! You’re doing something to get out of the situation that you don’t like. When the situation doesn’t improve after 6 months, move onto the next planning (no execution), the next certification, the next course. Whatever that can give you the dopamine for the next few months and keep things unchanged.

Be mindful of the mind. Don’t let it ‘adapt’ you to mediocrity. One Life. Live Boundless.
