The Future of India is BRIGHT.
In a tier-2 town in North India, speaking good English wasn’t the norm in the schools in the ’90s. The best convents used to give that edge to few but most students struggled.
A student coming in an IT job from a tier-2 city from, let’s say, the northern states used to have it tough due to English proficiency. Our generation learned fast and ensured that it is not a barrier to our success.
This was happening in other parts of India (especially South) for a long time. In other parts of India, it is heartening to see that parents even in remote villages give importance to English for their kids. Govt schools in other parts are also being categorized as the English medium and it is being taught with a vigor. A world bank sponsored group visited a village area in Varanasi a couple of years back and was surprised to find that students were speaking English confidently.
More power to all. Better English will open their eyes to knowledge from all over. Knowledge can take them places and the future of India is bright.
