When you start your career in the IT service industry, you don’t have the luxury of picking the technology or domain. You get assigned to a business unit randomly, and your project decides your role. This is majorly driven by chance.
This is where the first switch is critical. This is when, in case you don’t like, you can change your role, technology, domain, and location. 2-3 years is a good enough time, and you will have the experience to make a better decision regarding what you want to pursue.
If it means a BIG change, don’t hesitate. It is still early in your career, and you can do it.
A lot of folks make a switch for a higher salary alone. That is flawed. That salary hike would seem nothing a few years later but would have taken your career to a path you didn’t desire.
